The Best Tools for Planning Your Social Media Content

Introduction

There are two main elements to consider when it comes to content. The first one is creating the content and the second is posting the content. You may think that creating the content is the most important part and as much as ensuring your content is professional and interesting, it is vital that you consider the posting element just as much. You could have the most engaging piece of content but if it’s not uploaded regularly and consistently to the most appropriate social media channel, then it won’t get the desired effect that you are after.

Things to Consider

When it comes to planning out your content there is a long list of things that you need to keep in mind to get the most out of your time spent marketing on social media. These include…

The type of content you produce

Is it a video, a gif, or an image?

What social channels will you post the content to?

There will be some types of content that are better suited to some social media platforms. For example, short-form video content is best suited for TikTok, whereas long-form content will be better suited to YouTube.

How regularly will you post?

Having a consistent upload schedule is the best way to maintain engagement and build up an audience. If your audience (who are potential clients/customers) knows when to expect a post from you then they are more likely to be online to engage with the post.

Having a schedule also makes your business more professional and gives customers a good first impression. They know that you are consistent, reliable, and organised.

Be careful not to over-post as this could annoy your audience which could lead to them unfollowing you for example. You want people to be reminded of your business and the services/products you have to offer but not be inundated with it.

What days and times to post?

This will be different for every business, so it is a case of trial and error at first to see what times and days receive the most engagement. However, as a starting point considering generic times people will most likely be on their phones for example their lunch break or in the evening is a good time to start off on.

Looking at your audiences’ analytics is another key thing to think about. Where in the world are they from? What is their time zone? Just because it’s the evening for you and you would likely be scrolling social media, it doesn’t mean it’s the evening for them. This is something that you need to monitor as your audience grows.

Top 5 Tools to Use

Once you have figured out what you’re going to post, how often you’re going to post, and when you’re going to post it, you will need to find a good scheduling tool to help you do that. Luckily for you, there is a lot to choose from.

To Conclude…

There are many different options when it comes to scheduling tools but, in this case, you get what you pay for. The bigger your business is and the more account you will need the more you will pay. However, if you’re just starting out then there are some great free options out there, but they may not be as advanced as others and can be quite limited to where you can post.

Overall, using a scheduling tool is the best way to plan your content and can help take your business’s marketing to the next level. But this can only work if you research the points highlighted throughout this post. Remember no matter how good your content is it won’t be as effective if you don’t plan the posting.
